Parmesan Grilled Asparagus
Technically this is steamed, since it's wrapped in foil and placed over a heat source. But why quibble over accuracy.
Equipment
- as needed foil, aluminum
- 1 grill, charcoal
- 1 peeler, vegetable
- 1 bowl, stainless, large
- 1 whisk
Ingredients
- 1 pound asparagus, fresh
- 1/2 ounce garlic, prepared, chopped
- 1 tsp dill, dried
- 1 tsp pepper, black, fresh cracked
- 1 ounces cheese, Parmesan Yes. The shit in the can.
- 1 ounces oil, olive, extra virgin
Instructions
- Wash your asparagus. Cut off the ass, roughly 1/2" above the end.1 pound asparagus, fresh
- Peel the bottoms of your asparagus to get through the unpleasant, fibrous bits. Or whatever. You do you. I just hate waste.1 pound asparagus, fresh
- Whisk together everything that isn't asparagus.1/2 ounce garlic, prepared, chopped, 1 tsp dill, dried, 1 tsp pepper, black, fresh cracked, 1 ounces cheese, Parmesan, 1 ounces oil, olive, extra virgin
- Add your asparagus to everything else and toss gently, coating each spear.
- Make a foil packet big enough for your asparagus. Place it in there and seal it up.
- Toss it onto your grill for about 10 minutes or so. Longer if you like your asparagus softer. It's up to you, as always. Not like I'll be dispatching the asparagus police to your door.
Notes
A brief word to those people genetically predisposed to "asparagus pee". Don't be embarrassed. All pee stinks.
There. You are off the hook. Enjoy your asparagus and damn the consequences!
You don't have to do this on the grill if you don't want to. I only did because it's something I don't have to fiddle with while worry about my meat. You can do it in the oven just as easily. Or abandon the foil altogether and just saute it.
