Another Damn Food Blog

Week 3 Recap

Well here we are. Week 4 begins and I’m offically down 14 pounds, weighing in at 267.4 lbs. That’s a total of 5.4 pounds for the week. But it wasn’t through will power alone, no sir-ie-bob, after all, we are taught that no man is an island and anything an individual accomplishes is not through his will or effort, but through the benevolent will of the collective on his behalf, and so it is with my extra two pounds lost this week. Shout out to Waco, the Grand Lodge of Texas and Covid Fucking 19.

I mean sure, Big Pharma’s Boogeyman got me for a second time and yeah, I’m feeling some lung damage this time around, but hell, an extra two pounds in a week is nothing to sneeze at. Any port in a storm, right?

Do forgive me, dear reader. I mock because I must.

It’s worth mentioning, I’ve had a lot of “thinking time” this last week, trying to figure which way to go with this endeavor and about life in general. Remember, I didn’t so much have an idea other than to just get started and see what happens. It’s a lot easier to censor myself if I’m writing. With the videos, not so much. Still having a hard time working that shit out. Every time I film something (I have tons of videos I have not finished), there’s something I just don’t like. I fear I need a camera operator and that’s just going to drive my wife nuts because, well, she's home.

The add-in I got for my recipes, I think, will help with the videos as it is so powerful with so many features, it forces me to think in terms of documentation which, despite my professional history of late, seems to be lacking when it comes to food documentation. I’m still enjoying the process, though and the day-work is putting a fair amount of pressure on me to make this thing happen, particularly after last week’s Covid fiasco.

In terms of food for the site, I’m having issues trying to translate the diet crap I eat into someone someone else might want to. It’s not really cooking, per se. It’s packaging. I think it’s because I’m so locked in to pre-prepping utility food and focusing heavily on pre-packaged products because of calorie counts. The diet side of me is digging it. The creative side of me is not.

So what did I eat this week?

  • Monday: Coffee – 45 calories, Red Beans with real Rice – 720 calories, and a 170 calorie protein bevie.
  • Tuesday: Coffee – 45 calories, Breakfast Tacos – 446 calories, Turkey Tacos – 803 calories (yeah. I eat a lot of tacos.
  • Wednesday: Coffee – 30 calories, Protein Bevies & Quest Bar – 500 calories, Red Beans & Rice – 412 calories, Protein Bar – 170 calories

  • Friday: Coffee – 30 calories, Banana – 100 calories, Minute Steaks and Peanut Butter Quesadillas – 750 calories, Really Dreadful Leftover Cabbage Abomination – 290 calories, Protein Bevie – 170 calories
  • Saturday: Coffee – 30 calories, Ahi Tuna Steaks – 510 calories, Diet Naan (really, another damn tortilla) – 450 calories, Protein Bevie – 170.
  • Sunday: Coffee – 30 calories, 4 diet chicken sausages, a tortilla, and some green beans – 665 calories, 16 ounces low fat yogurt – 275 calories, Mexican Grilled Cheese – 230 calories, Lean Ham on a Diet Tortilla – 95 calories

Now, granted, the first part of the week I had no appetite, but honestly, that’s what food looks like in a week for me. I over ate on Friday and Saturday as I felt the meatsuit needed some extra support. One really should not diet while under the weather. Your body will remember and hold it against you. Plus, you’re are being invaded against your will and you have an obligation to defend your existence.

Wrapping up, I ate, on average 1177 calories per day, didn’t really move around a whole lot, but fever, body quaking chills, and uncontrollable coughing count as cardio, apparently. At the end of the week, again, 5.4 pounds down.
