Wunderbar! The Creole Pizza Episode is in the can. It feels like I’ve been working this one forever but in reality, I filmed it on Saturday, April 12 and today is Easter Sunday. I’m getting faster at these. Neat. Of course, I have no idea what the next one will be. I may go back and redo the original Sunday Supper recipes. It’s hard to say right now because I am becoming a little manic about pushing these things out and I think that calls for some circumspection.

Honestly this particular shoot went very well. I mean, sure, I got up at the butt-crack of dawn and started doing my thing by about 5:45, but as previously mentioned, that’s the best time to shoot. Quiet house. Even lighting. Sleeping neighbors. And who doesn’t want their very own Creole pizza for breakfast?

The original plan, because you knew shit would happen – it’s one of those Universal constants – was to get up, start the dough and then cook the creole sauce while the yeast were eating and making merry prior to their deaths. However, a free-roaming entropy field passed through my produce drawer and sucked the life out of my green bell peppers. It happens; rogue pockets of decay are terrible, particularly at this time of year. But green bell peppers are crucial to a proper Creole sauce, so instead of jumping in the shower after starting the sauce as I had planned, I jumped into DangerVan and headed over to my local HEB for some fresh replacements. The show must go on, afterall.

Upon returning home and showering (finally) I managed to start my mise en place with about 20 minutes left on the proofing clock. Still, everything after that went more or less according to plan, including the proper execution of “PizzaCam”. That was mostly something I was just thinking about doing and decided on the fly, “You know what? Fuck it. PizzaCam needs to happen.” And it did and I was thrilled. Still am.

So here we are, friends and neighbors, the Creole Pizza Episode is a done deal. Now go cook something while I try to figure out what I’m going to do next and when I’m going to do it.
